Translacija|Traslación is an international cycle of performance art events curated by Tatiana Kocmur and Francisco Tomsich/Talgia/The Watchtower. The first series will be based in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and developed along March-June, 2018 in various venues. It includes three site-specific performances, a series of publications and two exhibitions.
Translacija|Traslación is a series of artistic events focused in the specificities of the language of performance art in relation with notions of body, space, time and documentation.
We are interested in works in which the body takes the quality of an artistic object: a presence in a space with aesthetic values producing potentially infinite images and interpretations. The characteristics of the place where each work is produced and introduced to the public also offers the opportunity to deconstruct, fragment and re-combine former artistic processes in order to be shown as performative events in a different context and in a specific space.
We are aiming to create an international platform for collaborations and exchanges with artists and institutions from Slovenia and abroad. The intention is to emphasize processes and models of translating and exhibiting performance events happening in another location and in a parallel space. At the same time, we want to critically approach the question of documentation of Translacija|Traslación’s events as well as in relation to historical significative works of performance art and the narratives and documents about them.
The program of the first cycle of Translacija|Traslación reflects all these concerns, presenting site-specific works, adaptations of artistic processes to the place where the cycle is produced, works made in one city and simultaneously shown in another, and a research/exhibition focused in narratives and documents of one performance from the past.
Tatiana Kocmur is an artist based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Francisco Tomsich is an artist currently living between Slovenia and Germany. Since 2013 he develops Talgia, an artistic research project devoted to recent art histories from South America and Eastern Europe which includes The Watchtower, a program of exchanges and dialogues between artists and institutions from both regions.

Translacija|Traslación je cikel performativnih umetniških dogodkov, ki sta jih pripravila Tatiana Kocmur in Francisco Tomsich/Talgia/The Watchtower. Prva serija cikla bo nastala na različnih prizoriščih/galerijah po Ljubljani (Slovenija) in Monteviedeu (Urugvaj) med marcem in junijem 2018.
Translacija|Traslación je serija umetniških dogodkov, osredotočenih na posebnosti jezika performativne umetnosti, povezani s pojmi o telesu, prostoru, času in dokumentaciji.
Zanimajo naju dela, v katerih telo prevzame lastnosti umetniškega predmeta: prisotnost v prostoru z estetskimi vrednotami, ki proizvajajo potencialno neskončne slike in interpretacije. Značilnosti kraja, kjer se vsako delo proizvaja in predstavi javnosti, ponuja tudi možnosti dekonstruiranja, fragmentiranja in ponovnega združevanja nekdanjih umetniških procesov, da bi se lahko predstavili kot performativni dogodki v drugačnem kontekstu in v določenem prostoru.
Prizadevava, si ustvariti mednarodno platformo za sodelovanje in izmenjavo z umetniki in institucijami iz Slovenije in tujine. Namen je poudariti procese in modele translacije in prikazovanja uspešnih dogodkov, ki se dogajajo na drugih mestih in v vzporednih prostorih. Hkrati želimo kritično pristopiti k vprašanju dokumentacije dogodkov Translacije|Traslación kot tudi v zvezi z zgodovinskimi pomembnimi deli performativne umetnosti in pripovedi ter dokumenti o njih.
Program prvega cikla Translacija|Traslación zajema vsa ta razmišljanja in predstavlja dela site-specific, prilagoditve umetniških procesov do prostora, kjer se cikel izvaja, dela, izvedena v določenem mestu in sočasno predstavljena v drugem, ter raziskovalno razstavo, osredotočeno na pripoved in dokumente nekega performansa iz preteklosti.
Tatiana Kocmur je umetnica, delujoča v Ljubljani, Sloveniji. Francisco Tomsich je umetnik, ki trenutno živi in dela v Sloveniji in Nemčiji. Od leta 2013 razvija project Talgia – umetniški raziskovalni project posvečen sodobni umetnostni zgodovine Južne Amerike in Vzhodne Evrope v povezavi z The Watchtower, ki je program izmenjav in dialoga med umetniki in inštitucijami obeh območij.
