JANIA (INJU/ECJ, 2003)  included texts, paintings, drawings and objects, and a performance (Concierto Jánico) for two guitars and two speakers. Concierto Jánico was performed by Vladimir Guicheff (guitar), Mauro Rodríguez (guitar), Diego De Ávila (voice) and Francisco Tomsich (voice) in three ocassions (JANIA, INJU/ECJ, 2003; ESTUARIO, AFE/VIENE, 2004; Caramelos & Pimientos, Café de la Pausa, 2004).
JANIA means Janus’ place. The image of that double-faced Roman god was some kind of root concept: every painting had two sides, every single text was dialogic in some way or refered to Janus or his hypotetical race, the found dessin infantile ilustrated also this basic principle.

The dialectics of memory, childhood and the photography as a medium, as well as the fiction of the curatorial plot and the amplification and saturation of concepts were the most important themes in JANIA. The oil paintings are lectures on pictures selected from my family’s photo-album that were part of the exhibition too, and they were made on both sides of some office-bookcovers I bought from a clochard in the streets. The texts were printed and pasted in the exhibition room white panels rounding the objects and installations (like a three old school-desks row) where the paintings were assembled. Here you will find some exhibition views and a small selection of paintings, drawings and pictures.
